TFRs in Your Briefing
How PlaneWX surfaces Temporary Flight Restrictions along your route for situational awareness.
What PlaneWX Covers
PlaneWX compares active FAA TFRs against your route and flight times, then sorts them into two bands:
Corridor (10 NM)
Any TFR within 10 NM of your planned route is listed individually in your briefing, with its floor and ceiling, active times, distance from your route, and whether your planned altitude overlaps it. TFRs without map geometry are counted in the status line but not listed.
Nearby (25 NM)
TFRs between 10 and 25 NM of your route are listed under a collapsed Nearby TFRs section. They are farther from your planned path and listed for awareness.
Flight time window
PlaneWX matches each TFR against a window from one hour before your departure time to one hour after your estimated arrival time (ETD minus 1 hour to ETA plus 1 hour). TFRs that start up to 24 hours after your arrival are also shown. A TFR outside those windows is not shown as a route match.
Source data: tfr.faa.gov . Every TFR listed in your briefing links back to the FAA TFR list for full detail.
What Is Not Covered
- •Published procedure paths (arrival or departure routes required inside some TFRs) are not evaluated.
- •TFRs issued after the data time shown in your briefing are not included. Source: tfr.faa.gov.
- •Other FDC NOTAMs that are not TFRs (airspace redesignations, special use airspace schedules, and similar notices) are outside this feature.
TFRs do not change the WX Score
TFR data in PlaneWX is for situational awareness only. It is never used in your WX Score, your personal minimums evaluation, or any go or no-go determination. The pilot in command decides.
Important Limitations
- •PlaneWX TFR data is one input. Your FAA briefing and tfr.faa.gov are the sources for TFRs.
- •Under 14 CFR 91.103 you are responsible for all available information for your flight. Live TFR sources include 1800wxbrief.com, EFBs and tfr.faa.gov.
- •TFR data can be stale or temporarily unavailable. When TFR matching runs and that happens, your briefing states the data status instead of showing an empty TFR list. Briefings without route coordinates may not include a TFR section.
