Decision-Support Tool
PlaneWX provides weather information from federal regulatory agencies (NOAA, NWS, FAA) to help pilots meet the requirements of 14 CFR §91.103. The WX Score and AI analysis are decision-support tools.
Regulatory Compliance
14 CFR §91.103 requires pilots to obtain all available information concerning the flight before departure. FAA Advisory Circular 91-92 endorses pilot self-briefing. You are responsible for complying with all applicable regulations.
Pilot in Command Responsibility
All operational decisions remain your responsibility as Pilot in Command. You assume all risk from using the Services. Use multiple sources and exercise professional judgment.
Forecast Product Inheritance
PlaneWX synthesizes official weather products from sources such as NOAA, NWS, and the FAA — including METARs, TAFs, AIRMETs/SIGMETs, model guidance, and related products. Those products can be wrong, incomplete, or delayed, and they are often conservative. When underlying products are cautious or incorrect, PlaneWX scores and narratives will typically reflect that. PlaneWX does not replace an independent weather briefing; the pilot in command remains responsible for the final go/no-go decision.
Data Limitations
- Weather and aeronautical data may be delayed, incomplete, incorrect, or unavailable.
- Alerts and notifications may be delayed, dropped, or delivered out of order.
- Forecasts are inherently uncertain, especially beyond 24-48 hours.
- Do not rely on PlaneWX for real-time tactical avoidance or life-safety-critical decisions.
Experimental and Beta Features
Experimental or beta features may be inaccurate, incomplete, or removed without notice. Use them with caution and verify with authoritative sources.
