Managing Trips
Learn how to manage your trips, understand limits, and control weather monitoring.
Trip Limits
Plan-Based Limits
Each plan has a limit on the number of active trips you can monitor simultaneously. Free users can track 2 active trips; Pro users can track up to 10.
An active trip is any trip that:
- •Has not yet departed
- •Is being monitored for weather updates
- •Is not archived or deleted
If you reach your limit, you'll need to delete or archive existing trips before adding new ones.
Stop Monitoring a Trip
If you want to keep a trip's history but stop receiving automatic weather updates, you can stop monitoring (archive) the trip.
How to Stop Monitoring:
- 1Find the trip card on your home screen
- 2Click the menu (⋮) on the trip card
- 3Select "Stop Monitoring" or "Archive Trip"
What happens when you stop monitoring:
- • No more automatic briefing refreshes
- • No more email notifications (GO score changes, pre-flight, etc.)
- • Trip watchers stop receiving updates
- • Trip moves to "Past Trips" section
- • Briefing history is preserved—you can still view past briefings
- • Does not count against your active trip limit
Delete a Trip
If you want to permanently remove a trip and all its briefing history, you can delete it.
How to Delete a Trip:
- 1Find the trip card on your home screen (or in Past Trips)
- 2Click the menu (⋮) on the trip card
- 3Select "Delete Trip"
- 4Confirm the deletion
This cannot be undone
Deleting a trip permanently removes all briefing history, GO score journey data, and PAVE assessments associated with that trip. If you might want to reference this information later, consider archiving instead.
Archive vs. Delete
Not sure which option to choose? Here's the difference:
Archive (Stop Monitoring)
- ✓ Keeps briefing history
- ✓ Preserves GO score journey
- ✓ PAVE assessments saved
- ✓ Can view past data
- ✓ Frees up trip slot
- ○ No more updates
Best for: Completed trips you might reference
Delete
- ✗ Briefing history removed
- ✗ GO score journey lost
- ✗ PAVE assessments deleted
- ✗ Cannot be recovered
- ✓ Frees up trip slot
- ✓ Clean slate
Best for: Cancelled trips, test trips, cleanup
Automatic Archiving
PlaneWX automatically stops monitoring trips after they've completed:
- •Trips are auto-archived 6 hours after departure (to account for flight time)
- •Auto-archived trips move to "Past Trips" automatically
- •Briefing history and PAVE assessments are preserved
- •You'll receive a post-flight feedback request email (if enabled)
You don't need to manually archive completed trips—PlaneWX handles this for you.
Tips for Managing Trips
- • Delete test trips you created while learning the app
- • Archive cancelled trips if you might reschedule them
- • Let completed trips auto-archive—the system handles cleanup
- • If you hit your limit, check for old trips that can be deleted
- • Use the feedback email after flights to help us improve accuracy
